BeFriend-A-Child Program Volunteers - Dan S.

Dan S. group photoAt only 25, Dan S. is one of BeFriend-A-Child’s younger mentors. He works as a cyber developer by day, and enjoys the opportunity to serve as a role model for young children. He recently became a mentor after discovering BeFriend-A-Child on a volunteer website. He was moved to volunteer after learning about the program’s mission to provide mentorship in the local community to youth who have been abused or neglected. In previous experiences, Dan has found that mentoring provides an opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of these wonderful, but vulnerable youths.

Having mentored children of different ages, Dan has found it to be very formative and enlightening to mentor younger children who are still creating the foundation of their ethics, values, and behaviors. Dan especially likes the flexibility of the BeFriend-A-Child mentoring program, which incorporates unique one-on-one experiences with the mentees as well as group outings. He believes that being a positive adult in the children’s lives helps shape a better future for them. Dan hopes you will be inspired to join him and volunteer to be a BeFriend-A-Child Mentor today.
