Officials hear the stories of local high school students and their passion for public health

Teens from the Health Department’s Youth Ambassador Program welcomed a team of public officials from federal and local government agencies recently. The dignitaries were interested in learning more about the Youth Ambassador Program and enjoyed an informative session with students.

People from racial and ethnic minority groups are more likely to have experienced symptoms of mental illnesses or disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic.1 The Richmond Highway area of Alexandria, which represents one of the most ethnically and economically diverse areas of Fairfax,2 has limited mental health community-based services.
