The state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) opened a new, larger customer service center at 9855 Braddock Road in Fairfax. This new location replaces the customer service center at Fair Oaks Mall, which closed permanently on Jan. 11.

The DMV Braddock Road Customer Service Center will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Both service and testing options will be available at Braddock Road.

More than 50 transactions are available online, including decal and license renewal, as well as address changes. You are encouraged to take advantage of those convenient services to avoid a trip to a DMV. Some services that require in-person visits can be started through an online pre-application. This gives you the opportunity to begin certain applications from home or on the go. The completed application is electronically submitted; DMV finalizes the pre-filled application during your visit, reducing time spent at the office.

If you need to visit the DMV, you may make an appointment, reserve a spot for same-day service or stop by during operating hours.
