Updates for the future of Centreville are on the way, and all residents are invited to learn about what comes next. Through the Centreville Planning Study, Fairfax County is updating the community’s long-range guide, the Comprehensive Plan, to ensure it reflects today’s needs and tomorrow’s opportunities. The plan will influence everything from housing and parks to transportation, community spaces and local character.
It's been more than 25 years since the last major update, and the county has worked closely with the community to capture the perspectives of those who live, work and spend time in Centreville. Since early 2024, a community-appointed task force, public meetings, surveys and other outreach efforts have helped shape the new vision for Centreville. Now, proposed Comprehensive Plan recommendations are ready for public review, and community members are encouraged to stay involved and share their feedback as the planning process wraps up.
Join the Open House
An open house is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Centreville Regional Library, This gathering is a milestone event for the study and will provide community members the opportunity to:
- Review the new ideas and proposed changes for Centreville’s Comprehensive Plan.
- See conceptual images and learn how the community’s vision for the area’s development is being incorporated into the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
- Engage directly with county staff, providing a unique opportunity to discuss the new information and share thoughts.
To help ensure all community members can attend and contribute, childcare services will be available in addition to Spanish and Korean interpretation.
Following the open house, new plan recommendations and proposed changes will be made available on the project website. County staff will use community feedback alongside their analysis to prepare final recommendations for the Centreville Planning Study, which are expected to be presented to the Planning Commission in a public hearing early 2026. Public hearings for proposed changes to Centreville’s Comprehensive Plan are anticipated for spring 2026.
