Last month, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a new route and minor schedule changes for the Fairfax Connector bus system.

The new express Route 698 will provide commuters an option from the Vienna Metrorail Station to the Pentagon via I-66. This route is supported by the Commuter Choice Program and I-66 toll revenues. Ten rush-hour trips will be added to both the morning and evening schedules and is slated to launch on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019.

In addition, times of service for Routes 924 and 926 are being adjusted to align with the bell schedule and provide better access for Herndon High School students. Changes will be implemented starting Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019.

Fairfax Connector bus service, which is managed by the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT), continually aims to enhance the customer experience with service changes throughout the year. FCDOT staff solicits and reviews public feedback, and then presents proposed changes to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for approval. The board approved these changes at its Nov. 19, 2018, meeting.
