Fairfax Connector has announced the launch of TRIP100, a new Transit Ridership Incentive Program that provides qualified Fairfax County residents with a 100% fare discount on Fairfax Connector bus service. The new program, supported by a grant from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), replaces the previous TRIP program, which provided a 50% fare discount on Fairfax Connector.

“TRIP100 is part of Fairfax County’s ongoing efforts to expand access to public transportation for those in need. Programs like TRIP100 make it easier for eligible residents to use Fairfax Connector for work, appointments, and other daily trips with the goal of helping individuals and families get back on their feet,” said Kala Berry, TRIP100 Program Manager. 

TRIP100 helps remove the cost barrier to using public transportation for eligible Fairfax County residents. Participants must meet one of the following criteria:

• Be 50 years of age or older, with an annual income of $50,000 or less per individual
• Have an annual income of $32,805, or 225% of Federal Poverty Limit for an individual, 50 years of age or younger
• Be a registered user of MetroAccess
• Receive Supplemental Security Income or Social Security Disability Insurance
• Receive assistance services and have a caseworker through another Fairfax County agency or organization

Fairfax County residents interested in the program can visit the TRIP100 webpage to review eligibility requirements as well as full terms and conditions.

Previous TRIP Participants Ride Free

Fairfax Connector is currently transitioning existing TRIP customers from the old program to the new. If existing TRIP card holders have trouble applying for TRIP100, contact Program Coordinator, Saul Cieza Mejia at Saul.CiezaMejia@fairfaxcounty.gov (bi-lingual English and Spanish). New TRIP100 Smart Trip cards are expected to arrive in September. 

Until new cards are issued, current TRIP customers may continue using their existing TRIP Smart Trip card. Simply display the TRIP card to the bus operator to ride free during the transition period.
