Fairfax County Announces Applications Open for January 2025 Accelerate Breakfast Series

Fairfax County announced that applications are open for the first Accelerate Breakfast Series event of the new year, taking place on January 24, 2025. Early-stage companies in the greater Washington, D.C. region seeking seed funding between $500,000 and $2 million are encouraged to apply by November 22, 2024. The special guest speaker will be Dr. Gregory Washington, President of George Mason University.

This signature program, created by George Mason University and sponsored by Fairfax County, seeks to connect innovative technology companies with critical funding and resources. Early-stage companies in the greater Washington, D.C. region seeking seed funding between $500,000 and $2 million are encouraged to apply by November 22, 2024.

The Accelerate Breakfast Series: A Launchpad for Innovation
The Accelerate Breakfast Series provides a unique platform for promising tech companies to showcase their investment potential to a distinguished audience of over 100 stakeholders. This includes early-stage investors, business leaders, and other key decision-makers. Five companies will be chosen to participate in the January event, receiving the following benefits:

  • High-impact presentations: Pitch your company directly to a room filled with potential investors and industry leaders.
  • Expert guidance: Benefit from professional pitch coaching and preparation support to refine your message and delivery.
  • Valuable insights: Gain valuable feedback from an experienced investor panel for further growth and development.
  • Strategic networking: Build valuable connections with key players in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) region's thriving technology ecosystem.

“The Accelerate Breakfast Series is a cornerstone initiative within Fairfax County’s commitment to fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem,” noted Rebecca Moudry, Director of Fairfax County’s Department of Economic Initiatives.  “We’re eager to discover the next generation of groundbreaking companies that will propel the DMV’s technology landscape forward.”


Eligibility and Application

  • Companies located in Virginia, Maryland, or Washington, D.C.
  • Actively seeking seed-stage capital between $500,000 and $2 million
  • Possessing a scalable, technology-focused business model

There is no application fee, and applications from historically underserved groups and minority entrepreneurs are strongly encouraged. Applications can be submitted on the Accelerate website.

About the Accelerate Breakfast Series
The Accelerate Breakfast Series is a collaborative program between Fairfax County and George Mason University. It fosters connections between entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders within the DMV region. This fosters a dynamic environment that supports the growth and success of early-stage technology companies.
