Fairfax County invites residents, community groups and neighborhood leaders to provide feedback on the policies that help shape the future of our local communities. Proposed updates to key county topics in the Policy Plan — housing, economic development, revitalization and the Chesapeake Bay — are now open for public review and comment.
The updates are part of Plan Forward, the county's comprehensive effort to modernize and streamline the Policy Plan. While Phase 1 focused on initial updates that were adopted by the Board of Supervisors in December 2025, Phase 2 dives into new topics, including housing, economic development, revitalization, parks and recreation, heritage resources and the Chesapeake Bay Supplement.
Community engagement has officially kicked off with the release of proposed draft changes for three major components:
How to Get Involved
To help the community participate, a new online toolkit has been created. Designed for both individuals and community groups, the toolkit provides a simple digital way to review potential changes, learn about the updates and facilitate your own neighborhood conversations.
Residents are encouraged to review the proposed changes and share their thoughts. All community feedback must be submitted by Friday, Dec. 18.
To explore the proposed changes, access the online toolkit and visit the Plan Forward project website.
