Members of the public are encouraged to take advantage of easy virtual options for providing testimony on all public hearings to help keep the community and staff members safe as we continue to make adjustments in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
To testify by phone or by recorded video during the hearings, use the speakers sign up form or call the Department of Clerk Services at 703-324-3151, TTY 711 to get started. To testify by phone, you must sign up before 12 p.m. on the day of the meeting. To testify by video, you must sign up and submit your video by 9 a.m. the day prior to the public hearing. For both phone and video testimony, you are given three minutes to speak as an individual; if you are the spokesperson for a group, you are given five minutes.
Written Testimony (Online)
Submit written testimony, including attachments by e-mailing ClerktotheBOS@fairfaxcounty.gov Testimony can also be mailed to the Department of Clerk Services at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 552, Fairfax, VA 22035.
You can also testify during the hearings by phone. Once you’ve signed up to provide testimony you can indicate that you wish to do so by phone when the Department of Clerk Services contacts you to confirm you are testifying. If you are providing testimony by phone you will receive a call, originating from 703-324-1000, just before your turn.
Members of the public can submit recorded video testimony via YouTube for any public hearing. Comments must be limited to issues relevant to the budget or application. You are given three minutes to speak; if you are the spokesperson for a group you have five minutes. Videos must be submitted no later than 9 a.m. the day prior to the public hearing. Videos can be submitted and more details can be found on the Public Hearing Video Testimony page. Your testimony will appear in the order you appear on the speakers list.
All meetings are televised on Channel 16 (closed captioning available), streamed live online and available to view on demand following the meeting. Live audio of the meeting may also be accessed by dialing 703-324-5300.
As required by law, copies of the full text of proposed ordinances, plans and amendments, as applicable, as well as other documents relating to the Board of Supervisors meetings, are online, but are also on file and available for review with the Department of Clerk Services.
