Today, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to increase Fairfax Connector fares, in accordance with the fare increase implemented by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) June 30, 2024.
The last Fairfax Connector fare increase was more than 7 years ago: June 25, 2017.
As a result of today’s vote, Fairfax Connector will increase fares beginning Monday, July 29, 2024. Fairfax Connector customers will see a slight fare increase of approximately 12.5%. The fare increases are as follows:
Base Fare
- $2.25
- $1.10 - Older Adult & People with Disabilities
Express & Other Fares
- 393, 394, 395, 396, 598, 599, 697, 698, 699, 798, 835
- $4.80
- $2.40 - Older Adult & People with Disabilities
- 350, 423 & 427
- $.55
- Wolf Trap Express (Route 480)
- $5 (no price change)
A discount is still offered for Metrorail-to/from-Bus transfers. That information can be found by visiting our Fares and Policy webpage.
Local bus-to-bus transfers with SmarTrip® remain valid for unlimited free connections within a two-hour period.
New farebox stickers will be installed over the next two weeks and an updated Fares & Policies brochure will be available online at the link above. Printed versions will be available and distributed throughout the county as soon as possible after July 29, 2024.
Customers registered to receive BusTracker updates (systemwide) will receive messages directly about the upcoming fare increase. Informational flyers will be placed behind the operator on all buses. Finally, passengers following Fairfax Connector’s Facebook and X accounts will receive updated fare information.
