Most Fairfax County workplaces and all Fairfax County Public Schools are now equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for public use.
The Risk Management Division of the Department of Finance manages the County's program, which encompasses both equipment and training.
If someone collapses, is unresponsive to gentle shaking, and is not breathing normally, immediately send someone to call 911 and retrieve the AED. Begin CPR while waiting for the AED. Upon its arrival, open the case, press the green on/off button, and follow the spoken instructions.
The Philips FRx AED, located in County government and school buildings, will provide step-by-step guidance through the rescue process, including CPR coaching.
Following the use of the AED, please reach out to the program provider, NorthStar First Response, at their toll-free number 1-888-470-6771, or contact the County program manager at 703-324-3108.
