Summer Speech Therapy

young girl working with a speech therapistDon't let your student's hard earned progress slip away during the summer. This Summer Speech Therapy program is designed to help school-aged children continue building their communication skills, so they don’t fall behind during the break.

Speech and language development is a journey, and consistency is key. By enrolling in this summer program, your child will:

  • Maintain and strengthen the progress they’ve made throughout the school year
  • Build confidence in their speech and language skills in a fun, engaging setting
  • Start the next school year with continued growth instead of playing catch-up

Experienced speech therapists create a supportive, motivating environment where children can thrive while still enjoying their summer! Your student will receive 6 weekly sessions of 1-on-1 speech therapy based on their established Individual Education Plan (IEP). Group therapy sessions may be available based on child and therapist availability.

There is a fee for this program, but we do accept Medicaid, and a sliding fee scale is available for those who meet income eligibility requirements.

An Intensive summer reading skills program for students with dyslexia

Give your child the gift of confidence and success in reading with RISE, an intensive summer reading skills program for students with dyslexia. Offered by the Fairfax County Health Department, this multisensory, research-backed program builds essential skills in reading, spelling, and writing—setting them up for success in school and beyond.

Led by ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologists, this one-on-one, personalized approach begins with the Lindamood Phonemic Sequencing (LiPS)® program to strengthen phonological awareness, then transitions into an Orton-Gillingham-based method to teach the rules of reading and writing effectively.

Highlights of the program include:

  • Individualized instruction tailored to your child’s needs
  • 30-40 hours of intensive treatment over 6-8 weeks
  • Follow-up support throughout the school year for continued progress
  • Affordable options: We accept Medicaid and offer a sliding-scale fee for Fairfax County residents

Benefits for your child can include:

  • Increased reading confidence and fluency
  • Improved spelling and writing skills
  • Greater success in school and reduced frustration with learning
  • Enhanced self-esteem and a love for reading
  • Stronger foundation for lifelong academic and personal achievement

Give your child the tools they need to thrive. Spaces are limited and summer sessions tend to fill quickly.

Hearing Services

Hearing ServicesHearing Screenings are conducted at public and private preschools and community events throughout the year.

Hearing Evaluations are used to identify specific hearing deficits. This information can be used by a person’s hearing doctor to develop a care plan, which might include a hearing aid or other treatment. Evaluations typically involve using a soundproof booth and testing technology and are non-invasive.
