
Early voting is now underway through Sept. 6 for the Sept. 9 Special Election to choose a new representative for Virginia’s 11th Congressional District.
11th Congressional District
Only voters who live in the 11th district may vote. To confirm your voter registration and district:

Early Voting Locations and Hours
Two locations will be open from Friday, July 25 through Saturday, Sept. 6. All locations are closed on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.
- Fairfax County Government Center

Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Saturdays (Aug. 30 and Sept. 6): 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- North County Governmental Center
1801 Cameron Glen Drive, Reston
Monday–Friday: 1–7 p.m.
Saturdays (Aug. 30 and Sept. 6): 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Nine additional sites open Friday, Aug 29 through Saturday, Sept. 6. Hours are Monday through Friday, 1 to 7 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
- Burke Centre Regional, Centreville Regional, Great Falls and Herndon Fortnightly libraries.
- Franconia, Sully and West Springfield governmental centers.
- Jim Scott and Lorton community centers.
The Mason, McLean, and Mount Vernon governmental centers, along with the Thomas Jefferson and Tysons-Pimmit Regional libraries, will not offer early voting because they are outside the boundaries of the 11th district.
Voting by Mail
Voters may request an absentee ballot through the county’s vote-by-mail page. Applications must be submitted by Friday, Aug. 29. Completed ballots must be deposited in a drop box by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Sept. 9, or postmarked by Sept. 9 and received at the Office of Elections by noon on Friday, Sept. 12.
Registration, Voter ID and Accessibility
The deadline to register or update your registration is Tuesday, Sept. 2. District residents can also register and vote on the same day at any early voting Sept. 3-6 or at their polling place on Election Day, Sept. 9.
Bring a valid photo ID if you have one, or you can fill out an ID confirmation form and still cast a regular ballot.
Here are examples of what’s accepted:
- Virginia driver’s license (even expired)
- U.S. passport
- Utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or a government document with your name and current address
Curbside voting, ballot marking devices and other accommodations are available at all early voting sites and polling places for voters with disabilities or mobility needs.

Ballots and voting materials are available in English, Spanish (Español), Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt), and Korean (한국어).
