During National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month in February (and every month), Fairfax County offers a number of educational tools to promote healthy relationships. Residents are encouraged to get involved in disrupting cycles of violence among teens. One in three teens will experience physical, sexual or emotional abuse from someone they are in a relationship with before they become adults.

Young adults also should be encouraged to talk openly about respect, consent and boundaries within relationships.

County Resources

  • Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month Community Engagement Toolkit — contains messages and social media posts with graphics to spread the word.
  • Teach your teens five ways to be a healthy bystander.
  • LGBTQIA+ Language Guide — A resource to help individuals understand terms related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression in LGBTQIA+ communities.
  • Human Trafficking Video — Training that highlights human trafficking, teaches participants how to support survivors and shares Fairfax County resources.
  • Tier One — a two-day training on the dynamics of domestic violence, systems that respond and resources that are available. Although the training is free, registration is required.
