Motor Carrier Safety

Fairfax County Police Motor Carrier Safety (MCS) officers are a squad of four full-time and three supplemental officers operating out of the department’s Operation Support Bureau’s Traffic Division. Most MCS officers have some type of commercial trucking background or experience which provides them with insight into that industry. All these officers receive an initial two week training course and are recertified on an annual basis.

MCS officers inspect commercial motor vehicles, and operators, and ensure that both meet all federal and local requirements for safety, licensure and certification. These officers are authorized to enforce Virginia law and the Code of Federal Regulations as it pertains to commercial vehicles. MCS officers also investigate crashes that involve commercial motor vehicles on the roadways of Fairfax County.

Report the truck to 703-691-2131.
