The mission of the Fairfax County Police Department is to prevent and fight crime. Through our highly engaged community, we maintain our reputation as the safest major jurisdiction in the United States. A few weeks ago, the Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Sharon Bulova, formed a committee comprised of community stakeholders to assist me and the Superintendent of the Fairfax County Public Schools, Dr. Scott Braband, in an effort to co-produce a revision to our Memorandum of Understanding for the role of police officers who serve as School Resource Officers in all our middle and high schools.
