Virginia Freedom of Information Act Request Form Submitted

Thank you for submitting your Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA) request to Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD).

Request for cost estimate: Fairfax County may assess reasonable charges not to exceed its actual cost incurred in accessing, duplicating, supplying, searching for requested records, or developing a cost estimate. If you would like a cost estimate, please let us know promptly before we provide a response to your request. Please note if we do not hear from you promptly, we will continue to process your request, and you may be responsible for any charges incurred.

Response times: Additionally, please be advised that due to limited staffing and the extraordinary volume of VFOIA requests currently in process at the FCPD, FCPD requires an additional seven business days to respond to any requests for non-criminal records. FCPD anticipates providing a response within twelve (12) business days from the date your request was received. If you are requesting criminal investigative records involving body worn camera footage, FCPD requires an additional sixty business days to respond to your request and therefore anticipates providing a response within sixty-five (65) business days from the date your request was received. If your request was received after business hours, or on a weekend, holiday or day Fairfax County is closed, FCPD will consider it received on the next business day. FCPD will notify you if FCPD requires additional time beyond these statutory timeframes to respond to your request.

Please be assured that we are making every effort to review and respond to requests as promptly as possible.
