Juvenile Charged in Setting Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged a 16 year-old juvenile for setting a fire in a school bathroom, Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at approximately 1 p.m. The incident occurred at West Potomac High School, 6500 Quander Road.

The fire was started in a bathroom trash can and was quickly extinguished by school security. School fire and smoke detection or suppression systems did not activate. There were no injuries.

The juvenile is charged with Virginia Code 18.2-81, burning personal property, a class one misdemeanor.

Damage is estimated at $50.
