ISO Ratings

Current ISO Ratings for Fairfax County:

  • ISO Public Protection Split Classification: 1/1Y *
  • ISO Statistical Territorial Multiplier: .950 **

* In 2014, Fairfax County was evaluated and re-graded from 3/9 to 1/1Y in the ISO Public Protection Classification system. This designation is not considered in current statistical grading.

** ISO statistical evaluation for commercial properties has as one component the territorial multiplier, derived from statistical grading. This method analyzes loss cost for jurisdictions. In Virginia, only four areas are statistically graded: Norfolk, Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Fairfax County. In statistical grading, these four localities are rated against the “balance of the state” which is given the index value of 1.0. Less than 1.0 means relatively less loss cost, while greater than 1.0 means relatively greater loss cost.
