History Commission - About Us

Our Purpose

The Fairfax County History Commission was established by the County of Fairfax in 1969. The purpose of the Commission is to advise the County Government and to promote and encourage public interest in all matters bearing on the history of Fairfax County. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month. Our accomplishments and projects in progress are detailed in an Annual Report submitted to the Board of Supervisors.

The History Commission's members are appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Lynne Garvey-Hodge is Chair, Russell Brooks is Vice Chair, Anne Stuntz is Secretary, and Elise Ruff Murray is Treasurer. The contact information below is organized by District.
