We are looking for artists who can contribute their creative flair to the community and we invite you to join the debut mural program, "Paint It, Fairfax!". This initiative is geared towards building a pool of talented artists eager to participate in transforming Commercial Revitalization Districts and Areas (CRDs/CRAs), such as Annandale, Lake Anne and Springfield, through community-focused public art.
Opportunities for Artists
Artists in the Mid-Atlantic region are encouraged to submit their applications now for the opportunity to join the county’s new, dynamic database and begin working on a mural. Submission criteria includes a proven track record of artistic excellence, innovation and originality, as well as the ability to collaborate with the county and project partners.
Community-Centric Mural Creation
The "Paint It, Fairfax!" program emphasizes a community-focused approach, ensuring that the selected artists engage in a comprehensive community engagement process. This includes identifying suitable mural sites and themes, presenting concepts to the community, and actively involving property owners in discussions. The community will be kept informed and invited to participate in the creation of selected murals.
Celebrating Artistic Contributions
Upon completion of a mural, the community will be invited to celebrate the collaborative efforts, further enhancing the connection between artists and the neighborhoods they help transform.
Fairfax County invites artists to submit their portfolios and join the "Paint It, Fairfax!" database, contributing to the artistic tapestry of the county and making a lasting positive impact.
