
Alis Wang
Alis Wang was appointed to the Planning Commission by the Board of Supervisors in February 2024 to represent Mason District. Her term will expire December 2026.
Commissioner Wang was born in Virginia to immigrants from Taiwan, and has lived in Fairfax County since 2015. She has served in a number of community roles over the years, to include on the Mason District Land Use Committee, the Crossroads and Corners Coalition Board, and as Vice Chair of the 2020 Mason District SSPA Task Force. Commissioner Wang represented Mason District on the Fairfax County Human Services Council, where she served as Vice Chair and Budget Chair. Additionally, Commissioner Wang served as the Vice President of the Lake Barcroft Association and as the Mason District Representative to the 2021 Fairfax County Redistricting Advisory Committee. She is certified as a Fairfax County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member.
Professionally, Commissioner Wang is a former CIA Middle East Analyst and has 18 years of experience in the public and private sectors covering national security and geopolitical risk issues. She has extensive experience leading and providing strategic direction to cross-functional teams, as well as managing and executing high-value and complex projects. Commissioner Wang holds a bachelor’s degree in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University, a master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a master’s degree in Politics from New York University.
