2019 Providence District VolunteerFest®
Supervisor Smyth is delighted to host the 2019 Providence District VolunteerFest® on October 26 in conjunction with Volunteer Fairfax's countywide VolunteerFest® and National Make a Difference Day.
2019 Providence VolunteerFest® projects are listed below.
All projects will take place on Saturday, October 26 unless otherwise indicated.
Food Drive - Supervisor Smyth's office and Hunter Mill Country Day School collect for Food for Others. Nonperishable food donations may be dropped off from October 1 to 31 at Providence Community Center, 3001 Vaden Drive, Fairfax, 9 am to 10 pm -- or Hunter Mill Country Day School, 2021 Hunter Mill Road, Vienna, 9 am to 6 pm weekdays only.
Neighborhood & Community Services -- “Know Your Local Government: Become Engaged” from 1 pm to 4 pm at Providence Community Center 3001 Vaden Dr. Fairfax, 22031. Online registration at https://tinyurl.com/providencegov

Oakton Community Park – Horseback riding opportunity for kids to learn from Spirit Open Equestrian Program which fosters healing & learning life skills through relationships with horses. 1 pm to 3 pm at Oakton Community Park, 2841 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton, 22124. Sponsored by Fairfax4Horses. Weather permitting. Historic Oakton School House at Oakton Community Park will be held open for tours from 1 to 3 pm.
Mini Golf – Greater Merrifield Business Association (GMBA), Police Department and Park Authority host mentorship mini golf with Providence Community Center School Age Child Care (SACC) children from 9 to 11 am.
Neighborhood Park Projects -- Fairfax County Park Authority hosts Invasive Management Area site projects at:
Blake Lane Park - Friends host a nature walk and an activity box of activities to enjoy as a family in the park 10 to noon. Nottoway Park - 9 am to Noon Sept. 14 & 18; Oct. 19 & 26. Volunteers can sign up through the IMA website at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/invasive-management-area. If you have questions call 703-324-8681

James Lee Community Center – Calling all knitters to unite for our community with your creative skills!

Falls Church, help promote VolunteerFest®. Their 22st season opens with And Then There Were None
