The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) is seeking public feedback on the proposed Fiscal Year 2025-2030 Transportation Priorities Plan (TPP). The proposed plan anticipates an estimated $3.9 billion to fund continued investment in more than 300 existing priority projects, including interchanges, road widenings, new road construction, active transportation projects, transit planning studies and traffic calming initiatives. A list of proposed projects and investments can be found on the TPP website.
Funding for the proposed plan will be provided through a combination of sources, including federal, state, regional, local and private funds. Specific funding streams are subject to change from project to project and throughout the plan’s timeframe.
“With so many diverse projects, local and regional transportation interests, and intricate funding considerations, the TPP serves as a critical foundation for coordinating and prioritizing long-term investments in Fairfax County’s transportation network,” said Fairfax County Department of Transportation Director Gregg Steverson. “The TPP reflects our commitment to enhancing mobility, improving safety, and fostering connectivity across all areas of the county.”
Public comments on the proposed play may be submitted online beginning July 2 via Public Input. The website contains a pre-recorded overview of the TPP and space to submit online comments. Comments may also be submitted by telephone or U.S. Mail using the instructions provided on the site. All comments must be submitted and received by 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday, July 23.
Staff from the Department of Transportation also will host a virtual community input session on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, beginning at 6 p.m. The virtual meeting will be held via Microsoft Teams. Staff will present an overview of the TPP followed by a question-and-answer period. Meeting details, including the meeting link and telephone call-in option, are available on the Public Input website.
