On January 12, 2009, the Public Safety Committee was created. The Public Safety Committee enveloped the Board’s previously established Fire Commission. The Public Safety Committee focuses on policies, projects and programs that may affect the welfare and public safety of all residents of the county. In January 2023, the Public Safety Committee was renamed the Safety and Security Committee.
