CPR/AED

The American Heart Association is committed to reducing the fatalities and disabilities caused by heart attack and stroke. The Fire and Rescue Training Division is proud to be a Community Training Center (CTC) for the American Heart Association. As a CTC, the Training Division oversees all CPR and AED training, issues cards, and ensures compliance with American Heart Association standards. The Academy is the primary training site for certifications and recertification of career and volunteer personnel. The department also has 4 off-site training centers--1 of which is located at the Burke station. These centers provide an opportunity to educate the general public in CPR. The remaining off-site locations are the Herndon and Vienna Police Departments and the Public Safety Communications Center. Both the Herndon and Vienna Police Departments receive AED/CPR training and carry AEDs in some of their vehicles.
