With the 2020 Housing Challenge a little over one week away, organizers came together to host a Pre-Challenge Webinar for hackathon participants looking to get a better understanding of the current housing climate in Fairfax County and the objectives associated with the event.

The 2020 Housing Challenge itself will be hosted on Wednesday, March 11, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at George Mason University. The policy hackathon is designed to bring residents, students, housing advocates, industry professionals and policy experts to develop innovative policies to:

• Enhance public awareness and support for affordable housing

• Engage employers and non-traditional partners to provide affordable housing.

• Facilitate faith communities’ participation in the affordable housing solution.

Teams will be asked to develop and present solutions to one of these three challenges, and a panel of judges will evaluate and award cash prizes to the top submissions.
