Early voting for the Nov. 3 General and Special Elections begins Friday, Sept. 18, at three locations in Fairfax County.

Voters can cast their ballots at the Fairfax County Government Center, Mount Vernon Governmental Center and North County Governmental Center beginning Sept. 18. An additional 13 locations will open for the final 10 days of early voting, Thursday, Oct. 22, through Saturday, Oct. 31.

Any registered Fairfax County voter may vote early. No application or reason is required.

What’s on the Ballot

Fairfax County voters will cast ballots for U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, as well as local offices in the Town of Herndon. Three proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution also will be on the ballot.

Voters also will consider two Fairfax County bond referendums: $180 million for parks and park facilities and $75 million for community health and human services facilities.

Early Voting Locations and Hours

Early voting begins Friday, Sept. 18, at three locations.

The Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Mount Vernon Governmental Center, 2511 Parkers Lane, Alexandria, and North County Governmental Center, 1801 Cameron Glen Drive, Reston, are open weekdays from 1 to 7 p.m.

All three locations also will be open Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. After that, voting is available weekdays until additional weekend voting begins in late October.

Thirteen additional locations will open for the final 10 days of early voting, Oct. 22-31, with hours from 1 to 7 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. See all early voting locations, dates and hours.

 

Accessible Voting

All early voting locations are wheelchair accessible and offer curbside voting and accessible ballot-marking devices. Voters who need help marking or translating their ballot may bring someone to assist them or ask an election officer for help.

Register to Vote or Update Your Registration

The deadline to register to vote or update your registration is Friday, Oct. 23. Eligible residents can register online, in person or by mail.

After the deadline, eligible residents may use same-day registration and cast a provisional ballot at an early voting location or, on Election Day, at the polling place for the precinct where they live.

Voting by Mail

Registered Fairfax County voters also may vote by mail. The deadline to apply to have a ballot mailed to you is Friday, Oct. 23. Voters may apply online or submit a paper application.

Completed ballots aren’t required to be returned by mail (they must be postmarked on or before election day, if so.) They can be placed in the 24/7 drop box outside the Fairfax County Government Center; returned at any early voting location during voting hours; delivered to the Fairfax County Office of Elections, Suite 323, Fairfax County Government Center, during office hours; or dropped off at any Fairfax County polling place on Election Day. Ballots returned in person or by drop box must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
