Mental health support for children and youth is a priority for Fairfax County, and our Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) is now offering new community-based behavioral health services for youth and families at three community centers.

The CSB’s Youth & Family Community-Based Services Team is reducing barriers to treatment by giving individuals the right to access high-quality, affordable health care and supports in the communities in which they live. The Youth & Family Team provides evidence-based treatment to individuals ages 5 to 18 in need of behavioral health services.

 

Community Center Locations with Youth Behavioral Services

James Lee Community Center in Falls Church

  • 2855 Annandale Rd., Falls Church
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday (9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.); Tuesday and Thursday (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.)

Hybla Valley Community Cetner in Alexandria

  • 7950 Audubon Ave., Alexandria
  • Monday and Wednesday (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.); Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)

Herndon Resource Center

Available Services

With new locations open throughout Fairfax County to support youth mental health, the CSB seeks to enhance accessibility to critical services by reducing barriers to receiving treatment. When these life changing services are utilized, individuals, families and communities experience deeper connections and more fulfilling lives.

Behavioral health and psychiatric services for youth and families offered by the CSB include:

  • Engagement and On-Site Assessment
    Education on behavioral health services and initial screening to determine appropriateness for CSB services
     
  • Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluations
    Behavioral health evaluation with licensed clinician to assess the client’s presenting needs and provide recommended services 
     
  • Individual, Family, and Group Therapy
    Therapeutic sessions to address emotional, psychological, and/or behavioral issues that affect the individual and/or their family
     
  • Parenting Groups
    Education and guidance that provide parents with skills to help reduce challenging behaviors exhibited by their child and help improve their relationship
     
  • Peer Support 
    A range of activities and interactions between the youth, parent, or families and individuals who have lived similar experiences that promote connection and inspires hope (for the individual youth and family)
     
  • Case Management
    Provides assistance in connecting to needed services
     
  • Youth Medication Assisted Treatment (YMAT) Opioid Services 
    The use of FDA-approved medication and therapy to treat opioid and other substance use disorders 
     
  • Medication Management (Mental Health)
    Individualized support to optimize medication use and improve the youth’s health outcomes

For CSB Non-Emergency Behavioral Health Services, call CSB Entry & Referral at 703-383-8500, TTY 771, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may also walk-in at the Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 


For emergency mental health or substance use services, walk-in services are available 24/7 at the Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health or call 703-573-5679, TTY 711.
