Dec. 5, 2017 - Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recognized a record number of 16 employers who have taken steps to become a Best Workplace for Commuters. The addition of these new employers strengthens Fairfax County’s position as the national leader with a total of 79 Best Workplaces for Employers designees.

“We're excited to recognize a record number of Fairfax County employers, who in 2017, lead the region in providing outstanding commuter benefit programs to their employees," said Walter Daniel, senior transportation planner with Fairfax County Department of Transportation. "Employers who offer commuting alternatives receive value through enhanced recruitment and retention of staff, decreased parking expenses, and the ability to reduce employee absenteeism. It’s a win-win for employers, employees and Fairfax County." 

The Best Workplaces for Commuters designation acknowledges employers who have excelled in implementing sustainable and flexible commuter programs such as ridesharing, transit benefits, biking and walking, teleworking, alternate work schedules and other strategies. These types of commuter programs improve mobility by reducing the number of single-occupant vehicles on the roads. The employers celebrated today with the 2017 Best Workplaces for Commuters in Fairfax County designation are:
