The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) hosted a virtual public meeting to discuss the implementation of a Time-of-Day Turn Restriction on Dead Run Drive and Carper Street through the Cut-Through Traffic Program. The meeting was held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., on Microsoft Teams.
The proposal would restrict non-local, non-permitted traffic from making left turns onto Georgetown Pike from Dead Run Drive, 4-7 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Task Force members from the local neighborhood of Dead Run Drive and Carper Street have worked with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Fairfax County to develop this solution to reduce the volume of cut-through traffic on Dead Run Drive and Carper Street. The proposal has been voted on by residents within the Primary Use Area and has obtained sufficient community support.
The purpose of this meeting was to explain the proposal, receive feedback, and answer any questions or concerns that citizens may have. Representatives of the Dranesville District Supervisor’s Office, FCDOT and VDOT attended and staffed a question and answer session at the conclusion of the meeting. Feedback will be accepted through the close of business, Monday, June 16, 2025; please use the red feedback form below to send any comments to FCDOT.
