Founded in January 2006, the Committee on Aging was constituted to bring attention to the needs of Fairfax County’s aging population. In January 2009, the Committee’s name was changed to the 50+ Committee, and on October 15, 2019, the Committee was renamed the Older Adults Committee. The Committee supports the BOS aging plans, including the past 50+ Plan (2007) and the 50+ Community Action Plan (2014).
In 2019, the Committee approved SHAPE the Future of Aging Plan categories and subcategories. The Committee will work with the Fairfax Area Commission on Aging and the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging on development and oversight of the SHAPE the Future of Aging Plan.
