Regional Discharge and Assistance Project
Creative plans using Regional Discharge and Assistance Project (RDAP) funding are jointly authorized by Aftercare Managers from the five CSBs (Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax-Falls Church, Loudoun, and Prince William).
RDAP plans, which pay for appropriate treatment settings and living expenses as needed, have been pivotal in transitioning multiple consumers from the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute into the community.

Crisis Stabilization Units
Northern Virginia has two regionally-funded Crisis Stabilization Units (CSUs) with a combined capacity of 32 beds: Wellness Circle Crisis Stabilization, 4410 Shirley Gate Road, Fairfax (703-205-9452). In October 2021, we anticipate a 16-bed CSU opening in centrally-located Chantilly at 14554 Lee Road. CSUs provide a diversion or step-down from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, and are a less-restrictive alternative to hospitalization. Referrals to these programs are made through one of the Region’s five CSB Emergency Services (Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax-Falls Church, Loudoun, and Prince William).
