The Commission for Women Has Had a Busy 2023!
This year, the Commission for Women did its usual job of focusing on its mission to advise the Board of Supervisors on policies and initiatives to promote gender equality, eliminate violence against women, and honor women and girls in Fairfax County with a slate of activities:
CFW’s Women’s History Month Breakfast Was a Resounding Success
The Fairfax County Commission for Women wrapped up Women’s History Month on Friday, Mar. 31, 2023, with breakfast, reports from the commissions of neighboring jurisdictions (Alexandria, Arlington, City of Fairfax, Loudoun, and Washington, D.C.), and a rousing message about telling women’s stories--this year’s theme--from keynote speaker and award-winning radio journalist Nancy Lyons Sargeant. Several members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors were in attendance, and the commission’s outgoing student representative Alexandra Simmons-Robles gave the assembly marching orders to continue standing up for women and girls in Fairfax County.
