Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services, Inc (GSH) selected as partner
Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development and Good Shepherd Housing are piloting a program aimed at providing essential home repair and renovation services to low and moderate-income owners of manufactured homes at Harmony Place Mobile Home Park located within Franconia District.
Under the program, households residing in a manufactured home and earning up to 80% AMI will be able to apply for up to $10,000 of essential repairs and rehabilitation projects. Fairfax County is utilizing Good Shepherd Housing to administer and manage the application process and execution of home repair and renovation services.
Fairfax County has undertaken multiple actions to preserve and improve its manufactured home communities, including a task force, resident roundtables, and draft relocation guidelines.
“In Fairfax County, manufactured housing is a unique and diminishing form of affordable housing where a homeowner owns the unit but rents the land from a separate entity. This repair program pilot is part of our overall efforts to address the specific needs of these communities, including improving health and safety,” said Ivana Escobar, Manufactured Housing Program Coordinator, Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development.
“We are honored to partner with Fairfax County on this vital investment in manufactured home communities. These repairs are more than maintenance—they are a lifeline for residents who deserve safe, dignified housing without fear of displacement. At GSH, we’re committed to preserving affordability in every form it takes, and this grant reflects the innovative, community-rooted solutions that bring our mission to life,” said Genee Hayes, executive director, Good Shepherd Housing.
