Murraygate Village Apartments Waitlist Enrollment Period to Open May 18 – 22

Murraygate Village ApartmentsThe Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) will be accepting online applications for Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA) at the Murraygate Village Apartments located at 7800 Belford Drive, Alexandria, Virginia. The enrollment period will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2020, and run through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2020.
 

What is PBRA?
Project-Based Rental Assistance is program funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered locally by Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development. The program assists very-low income households obtaining housing in Fairfax County. Eligible households earn roughly 30 percent of the area median income or below (see income limitations below). Tenants in the program pay 30 percent of their adjusted income for rent and the rest is subsidized by HUD.


The Murraygate Village Apartments are newly renovated and are among the nearly 4,000 units of housing which are owned and operated by the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) for the purpose of providing housing options to low-income households. The units are considered among the most affordable in Alexandria. The community is located near public transportation options, schools and local shopping.

Online applications will be accepted beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2020, through Friday, May 22, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

PBRA WAITLIST AND SELECTION

HCD maintains a waiting list of pre-certified applicants in order to fill vacancies as they arise. Periodically, staff works to update and replenish the waitlist as vacancies are filled and information becomes dated.

All applications received during the enrollment period will be reviewed. Should the number of applications exceed the available spaces on the waitlist, 800 certified applicants will be randomly selected from among the total certified applicant pool. Following this process, all applicants will be informed whether they have been selected or not.

The PBRA program serves households earning up to 50% of the area median income. Currently the income restrictions are calculated as:
