Fairfax County, along with the greater Washington D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virgina region, will conduct a “Point-In-Time” count of individuals and families experiencing homelessness, beginning in the evening on January 24, 2024, and continuing through the morning of January 25. This highly coordinated effort provides critical data on the numbers of Fairfax County residents living in shelters, in time-limited transitional housing programs, as well of those unsheltered in the Fairfax-Falls Church community. 

The Point-In-Time Count helps identify homelessness services needs and tracks local progress on the ultimate goal of ending homelessness. The Fairfax County Office to Prevent and End Homelessness and its partners are working closely together to gather data, which will be released in May 2024.
