The Consolidated Plan details Fairfax County’s plans for using federal housing and community development funds to provide safe, affordable housing and suitable living environments, and to increase economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income households in Fairfax County. The Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is collecting information to inform the next plan, which will cover fiscal years 2027-2031.
How to give input:
Complete the survey online. Survey questions cover housing affordability and other housing issues that the community has experienced or observed. The survey is confidential, will take about five minutes to complete, and is available in multiple languages. Responses will be used to inform the new Consolidated Plan.
The Consolidated Plan informs how Fairfax County spends federal funding.
Federal dollars are provided to the county through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and the Emergency Solutions Grant program (ESG). Once awarded, these funds are managed by the DHCD to fund affordable housing, human services and community development activities, and to strengthen partnerships between county agencies and local organizations in providing these opportunities and services to residents.
Community input is essential to ensure the Consolidated Plan captures the needs, concerns and observations from Fairfax County. Plans are developed with input from residents, county leaders, service providers, advocates, and community partners.
