The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has launched the PRICE Main Competition to preserve and revitalize manufactured housing units and Manufactured Housing Communities (MHCs). The minimum award amount is $5 million, and the maximum is $75 million. Applications are due June 5, 2024, at 11:59 PM. Fairfax County is home to eight manufactured housing communities and is eligible to apply for the grant. If awarded, the grant can support the MHCs and advance the goal of preserving affordable housing in Fairfax County.

The county’s draft application for the PRICE Main Competition outlines the proposed activities to be funded through the PRICE Main competition. If approved, the funding will support such activities as the repair, rehabilitation, and replacement of existing units; infrastructure improvements; planning and resilience activities; resident and community services; and land acquisition by the manufactured housing tenants and homesite renters.

The county’s draft PRICE Main application can be accessed online (LINK) for review and comment prior to submission. Physical copies of the application are available for review during regular business hours at the information desks at the Fairfax County Government Center (12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax), the Gerry Hyland Government Center (8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria), the Department of Housing and Community Development (3700 Pender Drive, Fairfax), each Fairfax County Public Library branch, and other public facilities where advertised on-site.

A Board of Supervisors’ public hearing on the county’s application is anticipated to be held on May 21, 2024, at 4:30 PM in the Board Auditorium, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035.
