On April 11, 2023, the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Plan amendment SSPA 2023-III-1FC for Sub-unit E1 of the Fairfax Center Area ("Fair Lakes Study"). On September 12, 2023, the Board of Supervisors revised the authorization to consider the study in two phases:
- Phase I - SSPA 2023-III-FC1(A) - Land use and density/intensity changes for Tax Map Parcels 45-4 ((11)) A2 and 55-2 ((01)) 9A, and editorial revisions (current phase);
- Phase II - SSPA 2023-III-FC1(B) - Visioning and evaluation of revised overall recommendation for Fair Lakes (future phase).
Phase I reviews proposed Plan amendments for two specific sites within Sub-unit E1, each of which is being reviewed concurrently with associated rezoning proposals RZPA-2023-SP-00033 and RZPA-2023-SP-00047.
Phase I also considers minor revisions to the overall Sub-unit E1 recommendations to consolidate the adopted redevelopment guidance.
