SPOTLIGHT PROJECTS

DPWES has selected the following projects to spotlight with detailed information regarding background, benefits, and what to expect.

Dead Run at Georgetown Pike Stream Restoration Dead Run at Georgetown Pike Stream Restoration The project includes restoration of approximately 5,600 linear feet of Dead Run, its tributaries, stormwater outfalls and the floodplain within the stream valley between Churchill Road and Georgetown Pike. Accotink Creek Tributary at Carrleigh Parkway Accotink Creek Tributary at Carrleigh Parkway The project will restore approximately 2,400 linear feet of unstable stream channel to minimize erosion and sediment loss, protect public infrastructure, and enhance site ecology. Lake Accotink Analysis and Feasibility Study Lake Accotink Analysis and Feasibility Study This project will remove about 500,000 cubic yards of sediment from Lake Accotink and establish an ongoing maintenance dredging program. Braddock District Accotink Creek
Long Branch Central Watershed Management Area Project Long Branch Central Watershed Management Area Project This project will restore about 34,000 linear feet of stream in the watershed which runs from Maple Avenue on the west to Wakefield Chapel Road on the east. Braddock District Accotink Creek
Difficult Run Tributaries and Basins Restoration at Government Center Difficult Run Tributaries and Basins Restoration at Government Center This project will consist of approximately 1,600 linear feet of stream restoration using Natural Channel Design (NCD) standards and dredging of two amenity ponds to improve stream health and water quality.
