NOTICE: Mulch will be UNAVAILABLE at the I-95 landfill complex until mid-March 2019. A project to repair a concrete pad starts December 12, 2018.

Litter is the result of the improper disposal of trash.  It has very negative environmental impacts including:

  • Attracting rodents and insects which may breed disease
  • Polluting streams and lakes that flow to the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay
  • Killing fish and wildlife
  • Destroying scenic vistas

The Keep America Beautiful Foundation estimates that 51 billion pieces of litter are thrown out every year at an annual clean-up cost of $11.5 billion.
