Watershed Improvement Plans, Projects and Restorations

From your backyard to the Chesapeake Bay, what occurs in your neighborhood affects the water quality downstream. Fairfax County Stormwater Management is dedicated to protecting and restoring our vital natural resources through the implementation of stormwater management projects throughout the county. These projects protect property, prevent erosion, reduce excess nutrients, improve wildlife habitat, and improve water quality.

Fairfax County has developed comprehensive watershed management plans for each of the county's 30 watersheds. The plans identify issues affecting our environment and provide guidance for protecting and restoring the county's stream corridors.

STORMWATER IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

Stormwater improvement projects protect and restore vital natural resources throughout the county.

Many projects have been completed through a partnership between Stormwater Management and other regional organizations. Among the entities that helped to build or make improvements to stormwater management facilities are Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services, the Fairfax County Park Authority and the Fairfax County Public School system.
