Fairfax County to Celebrate Metrorail Silver Line Opening at Four Commemorative Events

On Tuesday, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will launch the Silver Line Extension which includes six new stations: Reston Town Center, Herndon, Innovation Center, Dulles Airport, Loudoun Gateway and Ashburn. Fairfax County will mark the opening on Tuesday, November 15 with two events following WMATA's Ceremony at Dulles Airport. The Town of Herndon will celebrate the opening with an event on Wednesday, November 16 and additional family day celebration is planned for Saturday, November 19.

Tuesday November 15, 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Ribbon Cutting and Celebration at Innovation Center Metrorail Station 
13747-A Sunrise Valley Drive, Herndon, VA 20171
This ceremony will celebrate the opening of new transit facilities, including the Innovation Center Garage, the Herndon Garage, and facilities at Reston Town Center as well as new Fairfax Connector Service and new bicycle and pedestrian connections to Metro stations.

Tuesday November 15, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. 
Reston Town Center Celebration

Join elected officials, business leaders and community members to celebrate the long-awaited opening of the Silver Line station at Reston Town Center. Take a ride onlink RTC, the new Reston Town Center shuttle, and get information on new Fairfax Connector routes. Free parking in the 1950 Opportunity Way parking garage. Take the elevator to the lobby. RSVP is requested by Friday, November 11, at fairfaxcountyofficeofpublicaffairs@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Herndon Station Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Mayor Sheila Olem and the Herndon Town Council cordially invite you to a ribbon cutting officially kicking off the Herndon Metrorail Station’s first full day of service! Event parking is available at 575 Herndon Parkway and 593 Herndon Parkway.
