Project Description
The purpose of this project is to provide pedestrian and bicycle connectivity along Westmoreland Street from Lemon Road to Kirby Road, including approximately 1,325 feet of bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Depending on space available, improvements include:
- An eight-foot wide (minimum) asphalt shared use path with a two-foot wide buffer
- A 10-foot wide asphalt shared use path with a 2 foot wide buffer where the roadway widths allow to work outward outside of ROW
- An eight-foot wide curb abutted shared use path (on the bridge, in between Lemon Road and Somerville Drive)
Additionally, the project includes:
- Installation and enhancement of several crosswalks for crossing Westmoreland Street at Kirby Road, Pool Road, Somerville Drive and Lemon Road
- Installation of a pedestrian signal at the intersection of Kirby Road and Westmoreland Street
- Updating of six bus stops along the corridor
