Declaring Week of December 4-8, 2017 as Inclusive Schools Week

Madam Chairman:

Fairfax County is committed to providing an education in schools and classrooms that are welcoming and capable of educating all children. We recognize that each child is unique and learns differently, and would learn better if teaching is tailored to his or her abilities and interests.

During the week of December 4-8, 2017, schools, districts and communities around the world will be celebrating Inclusive Schools Week by sponsoring appropriate learning and community-building activities.

Therefore, Madam Chairman, I would request that we invite the Fairfax County Special Education PTA, The Arc of Northern Virginia and other appropriate community organizations to receive a proclamation declaring the week of December 4-8, 2017 as Inclusive Schools Week. I further request that we invite members of the School Board and Superintendent Scott Brabrand to join us for the occasion.

Madam Chairman, I ask without objection that the Office of Public Affairs provide the necessary support in assisting to get the word out to the residents of Fairfax County.
