
Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer was sworn in as Fairfax County Braddock District Supervisor in December of 2025, becoming the first Asian American elected to serve on the Board.
Supervisor Sizemore Heizer currently serves as Chair of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Housing Committee and the Health and Human Services Committee, Vice-Chair of the Environmental Committee, the Board’s liaison to the Successful Children and Youth Policy Team, Chair of the George Mason University Fairfax Campus and Community Advisory Board, a Commissioner on the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission and on the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, and is the Board’s representative on the Virginia Railway Express Operations Board.
Rachna Sizemore Heizer served nearly six years on the Fairfax County School Board, first as an at-large member and then as Braddock District Representative. She is a lawyer, college professor, including five years at George Mason University, disability justice advocate, and parent of Fairfax County Public School graduates. The Supervisor earned both her Bachelor of Arts in political economy and her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
Before entering public service, Supervisor Sizemore Heizer practiced complex corporate and employment law, working on large-scale mergers and acquisitions, bringing strong financial and analytical expertise to her leadership roles. On the School Board, she chaired the Budget Committee and previously served as Chair and Vice Chair. Her accomplishments include securing collective bargaining rights, expanding access to advanced academics, mental health services, and inclusive education. As School Board Chair, she oversaw the development of a new strategic plan and improved accountability measures.
Supervisor Sizemore Heizer also has a deep record of community service, including appointed roles on the Virginia State Social Services Board and the Fairfax–Falls Church Community Services Board. In 2019, she received Fairfax County’s Martha Glennan Disability Inclusion and Equality Award. She is also a national speaker on inclusion and strengths-based education, presenting at conferences such as the NEA Foundation’s Symposium, the College Autism Network Conference, and the Online Learning Consortium.
The Supervisor and her husband are long-time residents of the Braddock District and proud parents of two sons and a daughter.
