Recognizing David Watts for 17 Years’ Service as Truro Homes Association President

Board Matter

July 31, 2018

Madam Chairman:

Having been President of my own Civic Association, I recognize the work, patience, and devotion to your neighborhood that this activity requires. Getting residents to step up and serve one term can be a challenge, let alone, repeating their time of service. That is why David Watts’ 17 years of service to the Truro Homes Association as President is significant.

We recently recognized Truro for their 50th Anniversary, and Dave Watts was instrumental in that celebration. Some of his other accomplishments include; ensuring full funding of a replacement reserve fund that had been established in the prior decade; enforcing transparent financial management and compliance with CPI dues limits; strengthening relationships with the bordering elementary school and Fairfax County police; serving as the self-managed association member on the Virginia Common Interest Community Regulatory Board; and spearheading the effort to manage community negotiations, and precedent-setting details which were involved with restoring the headwaters of Turkey Run running through Truro-owned community parkland as the Fairfax County first stream restoration project carried out on private land. These are just a sample of Mr. Watts ‘accomplishments during his 17 year tenure as President.

Therefore Madam Chairman, I ask without objection, that we recognize David Watts for this milestone and invite him to come before the Board this fall.
