Recognizing Gail Kinsey, Virginia’s 2012 National Distinguished Principal
Madame Chairman,
I would like to congratulate Gail Kinsley for being named Virginia’s 2012 National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).
Gail Kinsey has served as principal at Fairfax Villa Elementary School since 2011 after spending 11 years at Sangster Elementary. Gail’s career began as a teacher, working in the classroom for nine years before being named assistant principal at Lees Corner Elementary School in 1997. Throughout her career, Gail has shown great dedication to all her students, engaging them positively, creating new opportunities and providing the resources needed for academic achievement.
While she was principal at Sangster Elementary School, Gail was well known for fostering an atmosphere of service projects and developing a social consciousness amongst students by initiating discussions on arts and cultural diversity. As principal at Villa Elementary, Gail became the first principal in Fairfax County to initiate flexible math groups in all grades, and while at Sangster Elementary School her advanced math classes were filmed by FCPS to illustrate an exemplary approach to math instruction.
Without objection, I ask that the Board of Supervisors congratulate Gail Kinsey for being named Virginia’s 2012 National Distinguished Principal and invite her before the Board at a date to be determined so that she may be formally recognized.
