RZ 2015-BR-001 and SE 2015-BR-001 Request for Concurrent Planning and Date Certain

Madame Chairman,

In November, 2014 the Board adopted an out-of-turn amendment to the Area 1 Comprehensive Plan for the Ravensworth Industrial Area.  That amendment added an optional recommendation for Tax Map Parcels 70-4((10)) 503 and 503A to allow self-storage use and the rental of trucks with an intensity up to 1.0 FAR.

The owner of these two properties, AREC 2018, LLC, has submitted Rezoning and Special Exception applications (RZ 2015-BR-001 and SE 2015-BR-001) which would permit the establishment of a U-Haul truck rental and self-storage facility at 5271 and 5285 Port Royal Road. The owner has made a presentation before the Braddock District Land Use and Environment Committee and the Ravensworth Farm Homeowners’ Association.  These applications are currently scheduled to come before the Planning Commission on May 21.

Therefore, I move that the Board of Supervisors direct the Director of the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services to accept for concurrent and simultaneous review a site plan, architectural drawings and other plans as may be necessary to implement the improvements contemplated by the Applicant with this rezoning application.

I also move that the Clerk to the Board of Supervisors schedule the Board of Supervisors public hearing on RZ 2015-BR-001 and SE 2015-BR-001 for a public hearing before the Board of Supervisors on June 23, 2015.

The applicant is aware that this motion should not be considered as a favorable recommendation by the Board on the proposed applications and does not relieve the applicant from compliance with the provisions of all applicable ordinances, regulations and/or adopted standards, nor does it prejudice in any way the Board’s consideration of this pending application.
